Pigneys Wood is a community woodland in North Norfolk, England. It is situated along the Paston Way, within the Parish of Knapton and is approximately 1.5 miles north east of the market town of North Walsham The whole site extends to 23.5 hectares which comprises of 1.7 hectares of mature mixed woodland, 7.8 hectares of new woodland, 8.5 hectares of open ground and 5.5 hectares of low lying wet grassland.
The site is owned by the the North Norfolk Community
Woodland Trust, a limited company and registered charity,
who over the past 10 years have planted more than 20,000
trees of 40 different species. This work has been carried
out by volunteer work parties, and some trees are now
over 30 feet tall.
Other features of the site include a renovated barn, bird hide, reed beds, a scrape to attract wading birds, newly planted oaks to commemorate the Battle of Trafalgar, and the North Walsham to Dilham canal.
Pigneys Wood is open to the public at all times. The car park is off Hall Lane in Knapton, and is signposted.
An easy access trail has been created from the car park to a viewpoint with optimum panoramic views. A native hedge of over 1300 plants has been situated alongside this path, together with information boards on wild flowers, butterflies, trees and birds.
